Review of Vampire's Kiss (1989) by Dustin H — 08 Jan 2011
Here's a Nicholas Cage movie so ridiculous it can't help but be irresistibly fun, and it's a vampire movie at that. Cage plays a Manhattan literary agent who has a jones for loose women. One night while getting it one a bat flies into his window.
His lady leaves in terror, but Cage is fascinated by the creature, especially when it transforms into Jennifer Beals. Then she sinks her fangs into him. Vampire's Kiss is very confused, swinging from creepy and chilling to just plain silly.
But Cage is highly entertaining as the bugged out vampire, much like his turn in Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant. It's one of the more ridiculous vampire movies ever, but it beats Twilight goo.
