Review of Valkyrie (2008) by Raphael R — 19 Oct 2010
An interesting interpretatation of history. Its just one of many interpretations though so its not that new. The last film about 'Valkyrie' was on 2004. Valkyrie was shown on 2008.But still, all in all, it's a very intriguing film.
The film depicts the people who played a part in operation Valkyrie, a plot to kill Adolf Hitler in world war II and save Germany.
The actors were great. I felt that they were three dimensional, from Stauffenberg's adjutant, Olbricht to Stauffenberg himself. I knew that they would fail, but I rejoiced at their minor victories and feared their inevitable deaths.
The plot is full of intrigue, especially with Stauffenberg meeting up with important people who shared in his cause.
Is it anything new? No, but I can't help watching films about admirable individuals. And I think it's just right that their stories are remembered. And though these people weren't able to accomplish their tasks, they are still heroes.
