Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by James L — 08 Aug 2017
I admit I like being taken away to another world when I go to the movies. Its what I pay my money for. I got my monies worth with Valerian. it is candyfloss for the eyes. For me there is one major dissappointment, which has been mentioned.
There is no chemistry between the tow leading actors. I'm not asking for Mr an Mrs Smith, but it felt like two people who had fallen out and are forced to work with each other. I wasn't convinced.
However my enjoyment of the film was not ruined. Yes the story is overindulgent, but if your going to be different, then be bloody different. I did like Rihana's role, it sucked me in completely, but I understand the 50/50 opinion on its relevance.
I say pay your money sit back and get taken far far away.
