Review of Unfaithfully Yours (1948) by Alex S — 17 Mar 2008
Is it wrong to love a movie where the main character imagines increasingly effective ways to murder his wife whom he believes is having an affair this much? And did I mention this is a comedy with some hilarious musical moments and horribly escalating slapstick skits thrown in? I should have, because this is one black comedy that I cannot get enough of.
Though Sturges is just kind of blah in my book, he hit the nail on the head with this movie and Rex Harrison is absolutely awesome. In fact, I think a whole star might be awarded to Harrison's hair, both on his head and on his face in this movie.
The man has a way with hair! And with comedic timing, as you catch how his plan is not quite how he imagined it once it is set in motion. A definitely overlooked classic.
