"Hell is my natural habitat".
Nightmarish vision of alcoholism shoe-horned into a relatively plotless film. The setting is interesting time-wise and geographically, but the story never feels deeply enough explored and Finney's brilliant performance is never connected to the tragedy of the piece purposefully enough.
