Review of Un Chien Andalou (1929) by Nic B — 21 Mar 2010
This is by far my favorite silent film ever made. it made almost no sense at all, it skipped through time by years for seemingly no reason, and it had amazing visuals that surpass those of most modern films.
this may have been the first film to break the barriers of what was tolerated for onscreen violence, not to mention it has some of the most disturbing visuals I've ever seen (including ants circling or possibly even crawling out of a hole in a man's hand and cow carcasses tied to pianos with blood gushing out of holes in their foreheads).
fifteen minutes and fifty five seconds of gory, beautifully shot, nearly-plotless perfection.
