Review of Un Chien Andalou (1929) by Bob K — 28 Jun 2018
Bunuel laughed at all the analytical approaches to explaining this film, so I won't bother. Really, don't you just want to know if it's worth your time? For 24 minutes, you'll see really bizarre things that don't relate to each other, that were meant to shock the bourgeoisie of the period.
He failed at that - they loved it, and a great career in film was born. He employed surrealism in his later movies, but never to this degree. One review I read talked about it inspiring images in other movies and TV, but I didn't catch anything familiar.
It didn't waste my time though. And the eyeball thing isn't really that bad.
