I first saw this movie Summer of 1989. 1) I cannot believe he got away with this in 1929. 2) I cannot believe they let us see this (as teenagers at Governor's School.) Oh, and here's a spoiler.
What you think is real are just serious pioneerings into special effects. Buy the new DVD print from Amazon. Lots of good parallel docs on it included.
