Review of Un Chien Andalou (1929) by Niloo R — 06 Jun 2014
This short and silent French film is best to describe as bizarre. I still have no idea if there was any kind of narrative intended but I believe that the director was aiming more for the shocks than story.
This is definitely the case, as the film is rather uncomfortable from start to finish. Whether it's the eye slicing scene (with a real eye) or the female lead's armpit hair jumping to the male lead's face, you can't help but wonder to yourself what the hell you had just watched.
