Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Rob Y — 18 Oct 2011
Something seemed a little off. The acting seemed a little less stellar than the TV show for everyone but Sheryl Lee. Sheryl Lee was great, most everyone else is questionable. There is a lack of Dale Cooper in this, which is okay because when he was in it he seemed a little different.
I'm sure a lot of us wish this was a movie about what happened after the series ended and not what happened before it began, but it was still interesting to see. There is part of me that feels like this explanation wasn't needed and that we may have been better off not being told this story.
We find a little bit more about the characters, but we could have easily not known those details. Also Lara Flynn Boyle is played by a different actress, so that was a bummer. I wonder if it had anything to do with the partial nude scene? There are a lot of Twin Peaks characters you will be missing while you watch this.
If anything this just made me want to watch the series again, or well... instead of watching this. The dream stuff and the black lodge stuff was fine in this, just as weird and unusual as in the tv show.
