Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Jak-Luke S — 23 Jul 2017
Lynch's film is presumably sheer perfection for myself and for fans of the show. It explores the hidden secrets the mythology entails and what the audience desperately wanted to see but does show something they already know and that's the issue, Lynch doesn't do anything new hear and the efforts of exploration are somewhat missed.
The first 30min is a great example of new territory that is seemingly done away with only to re-tread new ground. The latter half of the film while beautifully executed with terrific cinematography and a magnificent performance from Lee, whom I believe should have been nominated for an Academy Award for her role is truly magnificent but it doesn't solve the issue of showing fans glimpses of something new.
Lynch took a gigantic gamble with Fire Walk with Me, a gamble that didn't pay off, yet nobody is disowning it and rightfully so.
