Review of Travellers and Magicians (2003) by Don Y — 25 Jul 2007
Two movies in one. Really emphasizes the need to see the world and it's natural beauty without trying to manipulate it. From the first scene it transports you magically to the faraway land of Bhutan where one man's dream of a better life in America is his driving force.
The simplistic wisdom that is imparted upon him by the travelling monk is not just meant for him, it's more of a social statement that you as a viewer are intrigued and inspired by. I almost wish it would have been longer although it effectively gets the point across.
The actress who plays the old man's wife is breathtakingly beautiful. This movie is the perfect escape from a hard day's work.
