Review of Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) by Wild Willie N — 27 Jun 2008
Excellent buddy-heist-road movie from a time when directors could be as maverick with their material as they wanted. This vehicle for Eastwood and Bridges has a free-wheeling attitude and plenty of humour.
George Kennedy has scarce been better as a nasty heavy from Thunderbolt's past. Some great cameos from several future stars. The ending is a little melodramatic and Bridges delivery of Lightfoot's death threatens to add some extra ham to the sandwhich, but Eastwood pulls out a career best performance here and makes this oh so watchable.
