Review of Love You to the Stars and Back (2017) by Fidel Antonio M — 14 Sep 2017
Antoinette Jadaone has perfected the recipe for a teenage romcom. Like her breakout hit That Thing Called Tadhana, Love You to the Stars and Back starts off with a chance encounter. Then these two strangers go through a myriad of mundane, humorous, embarrassing, and revelatory situations that push the love story forward.
It's a light and brisk affair, but is undeniably heartwarming. Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto could be the Rico Yan and Claudine Barretto of this generation. The leads effectively delivering the cute/charming/humorous bits as well as the heavier demands of the plot that revolve around terminal sickness, broken family, and forgiveness.
