Review of This Gun for Hire (1942) by Martin T — 15 Apr 2010
One of those many 40's films that was just a good solid film but not great. Alan Ladd & Veronica Lake are really good but the films script was a little weak not very well written.
It had all the ingredients of a typical noir ie girl, gun and mood lighting, but didn't seem to step into greatness... slightly forgettable. There is really good scene near the end in a trainyard but overrall somewhat bland film. If you watch just enjoy Veronica Lake she more than makes up for the films blandness...
