Review of This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006) by Keston W — 24 Jul 2010
Everyone who has any interest in movies and corporate influence on popular culture needs to see this. Anyone who makes viewing decisions based on a "rating" needs to see this. Everyone should know what it talks about.
Basically, the ratings system is a rigged censorship board whose impact is to push a sexually puritan, pro-violence, morally rigid framework onto American cinema.
Kirby Dick provides an entertaining and humorous exploration of the MPAA and its functioning. Kirby has an obvious agenda he is pushing, but the facts or so that its hard to refute his agenda as being the correct one. There are graphic depictions of sex and violence which he uses to illustrate his point and add humor, so be prepared.
