Review of This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006) by Rory R — 07 Oct 2013
Good insight to the American film industry and the significance of these large mainstream film studios. We get a sense of bias towards studio funded films, which leaves indie films truly alone. I never really had an idea of the significance of ratings towards the business aspect of a film, but we see how something so important has such a low level of structure and discipline.
This film loses its way a little towards the end in terms of exploring the logic of ratings and how it should be. For example a film depicting shootouts with no blood or consequence will be rated lower than a film which shows a single scene with a realistic consequence to a gun wound.
I child should know that guns aren't fun and can cause serious injury. I watched a lot of films as a kid and even I grew this opinion that getting shot by a single bullet on the body wouldn't be that bad, which is wrong obviously.
Entertainingly funny documentary nevertheless.
