Review of The Woman in Red (1984) by Jeremy P — 31 Jul 2008
This is probably my favourite Gene Wilder movie of all time. He can kill you just with his facial expressions, but he's at his funniest when he's trying to be serious and just reacting to the chaos around him.
One of the funniest scenes is when he is speaking to Seth, the teen who is attracted to his wife who's got this bizarre new wave hairstyle. When Gene says to him "You're... a Jewish boy, aren't you?" And Seth just replies in this sullen voice with a vacant expression on his face "My mother and father are Jewish.
" That scene just kills me - and my explanation doesn't do it justice. I miss seeing Gene Wilder in movies.
