Lon Chaney is amazing, but it's kind of slow if you've seen Frankenstein and Dracula. Still, you can really feel the sadness of the movie's plot: how this guy is transformed into a monster against his will.
But how awesome is it that Bela Lugosi is starring as a gypsy named "Bela." HA. That cracked me up.
