Review of The Wolf Man (1941) by John A — 01 Feb 2015
Not as good as I would have hoped. Claude Rains is eminently watchable, but Lon Chaney in the lead seems over matched by the material. And while the narrative is an interesting, if simple, one, it's execution leaves nothing to mystery, thus sapping its power to really make an emotional impact.
However, having just seen Gran Torino this weekend, I must admit to seeing a distinct similarity between Wolf Man and Clint Eastwood's character there. Grrr.
