Review of The Wife (2017) by Brent_Marchant — 02 Sep 2018
The strength of the performances by Glenn Close, Jonathan Pryce and Christian Slater are what makes this otherwise-predictable tale worth watching. Because there's so little suspense where there should be plenty, the portrayals by the three principals are what make this offering at all compelling.
This could be the role that finally earns Close her long-overdue Oscar, considering that she shows a range here not previously apparent in most of her other parts. If that's enough for you, then by all means see it; if not, wait for the other awards season releases to hit the screens.
