Review of The Wicker Man (2006) by Jenna W — 02 Apr 2012
If I said to you 'Nicholas Cage beating up women', does that sound like a fun evening to you? No? Best avoid this then, because this film's rampant misogynist streak is probably the least offensive thing about it.
This remake takes the old adage that 'the original is always better' and ramps it up to cartoonish proportions, reworking one of the finest cult films of all time into a tour-de-force so utterly, utterly horrible that, somehow, it actually makes the original worse just for the association.
You'd be better off spending two hours drinking hot urine or setting fire to your own nose hair - the only use this abomination has is to teach future film-makers exactly what not to do.
