Review of The Warriors (1979) by Derek K — 17 Mar 2010
Inspired by the tale of Leonidas and the 300 Spartans who faced off against an Persian army of thousands, the movie sets up what was originally suppose to be a post-apocalyptic Earth but could as well have been the late 70's and any date for that matter, where gangs are overrunning the city.
The outfits are amazing, scenes of a group of gangs in their trademarked clothes walking in the subways with a great blend of synth and heavy rock under is perfect eye candy. This movie has a lot of good fights, good action scenes and a lot of suspense.
And let's not forget the characters. Kevin Eastman marks this as his favorite film and James Remar's character of Ajax was an inspiration to Raphael's hot temper and not being able to follow the leaders orders.
Casey Jones' design also comes from the Baseball Furies.
