Review of The Warriors (1979) by Jordan K — 04 Nov 2015

I walked into The Warriors remembering the release of the PS2 beat 'em video game based off of the film, which is known for its memorable cult status. What I received was an incredibly aged, somewhat boring, dark and slow paced 70s gang flick filled with mischief and attempts at fun.

In an apocalyptic future where gangs override police force by the number, The Warriors are known as the very best in their field, attempting to make it to New Jersey and not let their rival gangs stop them in the midst of a critical and controversial shooting.

By the summary I gave, even I feel convinced that it sounds very cool - it wasn't in the slightest. The film's notable and repetitive atmosphere of constant nighttime adds to the slowness of the boring, plotless film. To truly enjoy The Warriors one must engage in similar fun mischief the Warriors members often laugh off after escaping danger. 70s lingo galore, the film is incredibly aged from minute one. The Warriors is slow and unappealing, only fit to a certain crowd to can enjoy the teenage troublemaking mischief of the dull personality lacking members of the gang.
