Review of The Wackness (2008) by Kmm . — 09 Jul 2010
Nickelodeon's Josh Peck does a turnaround as a hapless drug dealer in mid-90s New York City as he learns about life, love, and other coming-of-age tropes. Funny, and appropriately honest at times, but extremely uneven throughout.
There isn't really much of a sense of plot to speak of, and I couldn't help but feel like a lot of it was upstaged by the constant barrage of hip-hop and stoner references. Despite this odd non-linearity of the story, "Wackness" is still a decent movie, and the performances start to shine by the film's second half.
