Review of The Wackness (2008) by Monica A — 16 Dec 2012
The Wackness is a not-bad little character drama. It's classic early-'90s hip hop soundtrack is well-selected, and is just as much a crucial element of the movie as the characters we're focused on.
The themes and some of the events of the film are pretty standard coming-of-age fare, but the unusual relationship between Ben Kingsley's eccentrically juvenile character and the lead, Luke, provide a unique take on the buddy movie dynamic.
Worth a watch.
