Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Catherine N — 02 May 2010
Third Bergman flick I've seen and the third near perfect one in a row, I might just be onto something here. A masterpiece that's not quite as much of a masterpiece as the director's earlier triumph The Seventh Seal but comes damn close.
All in all an emotionally draining yet rewarding experience. Gorgeous cinematography and a terrific performance by Max Von Sydow as the father, as well as many other pluses, make this one to watch.
