Review of The Unbelievable Truth (1990) by Tibor B — 27 Mar 2009
Odd and quirky first feature from Hal Hartley - mysterious loner Josh returns to his small home town, rumours abound that he killed a local girl and her father. Local girl Audrey, a spunky apathetic beauty falls for him and discovers appearances aren't what they seem.
Hartleys film is a wonderful combination of genuine emotion and indie quirkiness along with a great cast and script and was a big influence on many US indie films since.
