Review of The Unbelievable Truth (1990) by Jonathan G — 04 May 2008
A very early effort, but no less effective for all that - it isn't quite as beautifully contrived as Simple Men, but there's still enough Hartley ballet, comic vignettes and elliptical dialogue to keep the central storyline/love story going all the way to the final scene, which is, as with all the others, about possibilities, not certainties.
The heart of the film belongs to Robert Burke, as usual, and that's the way things should be.
