Review of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) by Morgan E — 27 Jul 2008
Very, very, colourful and beautifully shot. All the dialogue is sung so it makes the English subtitles a bit weird and a little bit awkward sometimes. The main tune/song is beautiful and always made me reach for the handkerchief before I even saw the film (courtesy of an episode of Futurama where Fry's dog grows old waiting waiting for him) - sad git.
An extremely romantic film, but you do have to put a bit of effort into watching it.
