Review of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) by Sutthirak P — 21 Apr 2012
Very French. All of the dialogue is sung (although some exchanges can verge on scat). Michel Legrand's central themes are well known. Demy has an eye for color. Deneuve is so young. The plot is so sad.
Those strings, those strings. Romantics beware, this artifice is closer to life (c'est la guerre).
