Review of The Third Man (1949) by Ed Q — 17 Aug 2009
Although I've never seen so many Dutch angles in one film, the photography is superb. The balance between light and shadow, specifically in the climactic sewer chase, adds a great deal of atmosphere to the already visually arresting landscape of postwar Vienna.
Orson Welles' brief appearance is memorable, because his dialogue on the Ferris wheel is sinister, darkly humorous and provocative.
