Review of The Third Man (1949) by Rich C — 09 Aug 2011
Is 5 stars as high as I can go? The Third Man is one of the greatest of all films and one of my absolute favorites. Nearly every frame and line of dialogue is total perfection. No film has, or ever will, be made like it again.
It's so singular that any attempt to mimic it will only be a cheap copy. Orson Welles only has a couple scenes but somehow manages one of the most memorable movie characters of all time in Harry Lime.
The score is fitting and the Vienna location couldn't be more perfect. Also contains the greatest final shot in all of movies. See this atleast once in your life.
