Review of The Thing (1982) by Keanex — 02 Nov 2020
I am going to catch flack for this, but let me be straight-forward, I didn't care for this film. I love the setting, I love the idea, but the pacing simultaneously feels slow, while feeling like it's progressing far too fast.
Much like a rollercoaster in a way, but with the scenes carrying no tension in it. I don't think that a movie format is the optimal length for a story that has the ability to create some highly tense moments.
A mini-series would have been killer I think. Moreso than the odd pacing, I didn't find the monster to be scary. The idea of the monster and tenseness of wondering who is "infected" was far more thrilling than the movie itself.
I'll take my lashings but it didn't feel right to me.
