Review of The Thing (1982) by Sean D — 11 Jan 2016
Next up is the '82 film based more closely on the novel than the film that came 30 years before it. We drop the rest of the original films name and keep it or simple. Instead of this being a remake, it's more like a separate adaption of the book. We have a team of all men, in the correct location of Antarctica. Already as soon as the film starts, we get right into the action. Let's keep in mind, this is a John Carpenter film and as a result, we expect a high quality low budget thriller slasher horror.
And it delivers. It's not an amazing film by any sense of the word, but for an in general lackluster plot that doesn't have much to go on, it's okay. There's not much to be done with this, it just ends up as a slasher film. Had the original gone in this direction, it would have been one of the earliest slashers. Our head role is Kurt Russell who leads his team in taking down the threat and securing the base. It's a pretty fun film, not super amazing, but not bad.
