Review of The Swimmer (1968) by Jeff R — 24 Mar 2008
A hidden sleeper of a movie, a man's mid-life crisis manifests itself in each of his neighbours swimming pools with each pool and its inhabitants recapitulating some aspect of his life that he struggles to come to terms with.
Lancaster's descent into urban hell is a metaphor for the frustrations that had gripped the world at the time. Brilliant ... Pollack!
