Review of The Swimmer (1968) by Will T — 05 Jun 2009
An interesting film about a young man who decides to swim through his neighborhood by going from house to house. Through his quest, he meets old friends and learns more about himself. Burt Lancaster does put in a great performance as the title character.
There are some interesting moments and I really do think the decline of the swimmer is very structurally sound and believable. The film will feel quite dated at times but its an intelligent story about really a man's fall from grace.
Love the last 10 minutes.
