Review of The Swimmer (1968) by Naoya K — 29 May 2011
A film you must watch at least every ten years. It will jarr you into a reflection on your own life in new and distressing ways.
It is not only a film about life, it is also a whole life contained in a film, not just through the literal revisiting of the past, but by the journey itself, symbolising life's journey.
To say any more would be to gild the lily. Add this movie to your "compulsory viewing" list, somewhere very, very near the top.
