Objectively speaking, this is among the best films Steven Spielberg ever made. It has an epic feeling to it, and adapting the intense tension used in Duel (1971), The Sugarland Express has a highly effective pace and enough character development for calling it a masterpiece and an unforgettable journey. A shocking account, this was almost among the best films of the 70's.
