Review of The Strawberry Blonde (1941) by Bruce B — 17 Sep 2008
The "bad guy" gets his comeuppance in a very natural seeming way.
This is Jimmy Cagney playing way against type.
De Haviland and Hayworth play pretty much to type in smallish roles. Alan Hale plays the genial bad guy.
This would be film noir before the definition was created.
