Review of The Searchers (1956) by Beau D — 04 Oct 2012
I really didn't like this movie. It is very, very dated. The obvious racism and sexism is hard to get past, and I always cringe when I see a white guy play a Native American. In addition to the bad over-acting, its not especially well-written.
The main character, played of course by John Wayne, comes across more as a total asshole than a cool protagonist. There are some amazing panoramic shots, of course. But that gets overshadowed by having to watch John Wayne beat women.
