Review of The Searchers (1956) by User Z — 10 Sep 2017
The Searchers (1956) is the kind of western that truly gets everything right. Ford and Wayne understood the subject matter they were dealing with, and their objective was to be honest and careful about it. Ethan Edwards (John Wayne) is a character who is conflicted with his own personal feelings for Native-Americans. The film might be beautiful to look at, but overall it is an important character study. With John Ford, art can be one thing he is after, but it's the characters that really keep us in suspense. The way you look at this film depends on how it affects you emotionally and personally. Definitely a favorite!
Score: A+ GREAT!!!
