Review of The Sacrifice (1986) by Daniel S — 02 Jul 2008
Not quite as amazing as Tarkovsky's other movies (it only stayed with me for one day, instead of two or three), but still a thousand times more amazing than most movies. I loved how Tarkovsky used the long, drawn out pace to delay our final act epiphanies: for about fifteen minutes, I was very, very confused as to why the nuclear war ended (Was it a dream? Was the man crazy?).
And then it hit me: the man's prayers had been answered. God exists.
