Review of The Sacrifice (1986) by Deray A — 10 Jan 2011
10.1.2011.
Two masters working together: Tarkovsky and cinematographer Sven Nykvist. The images are terrific. The light is very important. The compositions masterful. This is film-making at its very best. Again, Tarkovsky's pacing lets you - no, forces you - to contemplate the images, ideas and themes present. It is a summation of his work, a film he knew would be his last. His demands for the viewer are high, but so are the rewards - it is not an easy film to watch, never intended to be.
