Review of The Sacrifice (1986) by Eric H — 17 Jan 2014
Oddly powerful and fully moving. Dreamlike and beautiful, the movie delves into the nature of everyday humans in the face of ultimate catastrophe. Tarkovsky's film, although not a masterpiece feels fully complete, leaving each scene to fully develop into something uncharacteristic in american films.
Its close examination of fear in the face of WW3 is human and honest. Although the movie can seem muddled and confusing in certain spots throughout, the overall experience is largely enjoyable.
