Review of The Return of the Living Dead (1985) by Bobby — 30 Jul 2008
A classic Horror flick, with just enough laughs to keep you going between the Zombie gore. I saw this movie when I was twelve and it's been with me ever since. The fact that it took place right here in my hometown of Louisville Kentucky was a real treat; But actually, it was filmed in Burbank California.
I went all over Louisville back then to try and find the shooting locations, until I read a few years later it wasn't filmed here at all! But, this Zombie movie stands entirely on it's own. None of it's sequals are worth talking about, and it is not to be compared with George Romero's Zombie movies because, they too have their own place in the halls of flesh-eating fame.
If you're in the mood for Zombies, but not on such a severe level of drama in the story... Then this movie is for YOU. No other knowledge of previous "Living Dead" films is required for full enjoyment of this humorous, yet dark tale of something that just got completely out of hand in Louisville Kentucky on July 4th, 1983.
