Review of The Resident (2011) by Edward K — 19 Feb 2011
Cast: Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Christopher Lee, Lee Pace, Michael Massee, Aunjanue Ellis, Penny Balfour, Kisha Sierra, Peggy Miley, Michael Showers.
Director: Antti J. Jokinen.
Summary: A young M.D. who moves into a Brooklyn loft -- in this thriller that finds excitement turning to panic for the lovely doc when she realizes she's not alone in her new abode. Now, far from saving others' lives, she's struggling to keep her own as she attempts to disentangle herself from a man -- her landlord (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) -- who has a key to her home and a growing obsession for his tenant.
My Thoughts: "I was surprised to hear that a film starring both Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, went straight to DVD. But now after seeing it, I know why. The film, for it to be a thriller, is quite boring. Not very exciting or scary at all. The suspense builds up, but ends with let downs. Although it does finally get going at about the hour mark. So if your willing to set through it until then, you will get some disturbing scenes. The acting isn't bad, but the story just drags and really doesn't develop into anything interesting. I will admit that Jeffrey Dean Morgan definitely creeped me out. He did his part well. The things that happened to her are frightening and definitely will make you a bit freaked out if you live in a apartment building like that alone. As previous viewers have stated, this film is forgettable.".
