Review of The Resident (2011) by Greg D — 02 Apr 2013
There have been quite a few psycho stalker movies in the past, the most obvious of which being Pacific Heights and Single White Female and so I was reluctant to give this one a go as I thought it wouldn't be anything that I hadn't already seen before. I decided to give it a chance however as it's part of the new crop of Hammer Horror movies, and I'm glad I did because despite movie land being over saturated with this kind of movie, I think this one may have just shot to the top of the pile.
Despite the bad guy being revealed pretty early on, this doesn't remove any tension from the movie as this bad guy ups the ante in the creepy disturbing stalker role. The bad guy in question plays the charming nice guy so well and very easily flips to obsessed psychopath which made him perfect for this role.
