Review of The Reckless Moment (1949) by Steve O — 29 May 2009
This is joan bennett's film & she gives a great performance of a woman resorting to desperate measures to protect her daughter from blackmail. the story is good, james mason's odd irish american/james mason accent is not so good, and the film suffers because we are never let in on the reasons why his gangster character performs so many alltruistic acts toward the family & targets of his blackmail plans, apart from the fact that he quite likes joan bennett & wants to make amends for being a bad man throughout his life.
well I suppose that's enough of a reason but it didn't wash with me. decent but not classic noir.
