(1949) The Reckless Moment.
SUSPENSE/ THRILLER.
Based on the Ladies Home Journal story "The Blank Wall" by Elisabeth Sanxay Holding starring a mother Lucia Harper (Joan Bennet) holding family together while her husband is away in Berlin. Her 17 year old daughter Bea (Geraldine Brooks) who's taking college art gets mixed up with a very seedy art dealer Darby (Shepperd Strudwick) who gets killed by accident resulting money collector Martin Donnelly(James Mason) to blackmail the mother for a specified amount money Darby owed money to otherwise personal letters would be released to the police which can link the mother's daughter to Darby's death.
The movie is relevent back in it's time when cell phones/ computers as well as other gadgets didn't exist, as well as womans rights. And James Mason's role is identcal to other roles he's done such as "Odd Man Out" but it's still somewhat entertaining nevertheless despite of it's improbability of it's conclusion.
2.5 out of 4.
